As we skip ahead to the 21st century , this evolution continues and , as history shows us with many things , there is resistance to change. We all know now that strength training involves more than simply doing biceps curls and bench presses in order to look good at the beach. Building core strength and stability around all the body’s joints is essential to achieving full function for sport and functional activities and for the movements and demands of everyday life. Traditional bodybuilding philosophies and machine based training allow people to develop stronger prime mover muscle groups such as the quads , biceps , pectorals , deltoids , and that ever-elusive rectus abdominus “six pack”.
